Stimulus & Chris Dave – “Tic Toc”

Stimulus has made a name for himself as a DJ/rapper while Chris Dave is infamous for his superb drumming skills (ask Mos Def and Robert Glasper) and the two musicians just release their first collaborative mix tape 3rd 1st Impression. The soulful compilation—produced entirely by Dave, with rhymes by Stimulus—features artists such as Bilal, Renee Neufvill and Casey Benjamin. On “U Don’t Want It,” Stimulus has a few stern words for artists who’ve lost their knack for originality, over a hi-hat heavy loop from Dave, with simple background vocals that gives it all a real throwback feel.
