~ Burgandy Whip - Blu

Blu – “Burgandy Whip” Ft. MED & Jimetta Rose

Another stealthy drop by Blu, UCLA being the collaborative project with Madlib. Had a listen and this particularly smooth track just stuck., the album appears to have been taken down.

~ Louder - Jaylib

Jaylib - “Louder” (Blast Your Radio Theme)

Jaylib was formed in 2002 as Madlib & Dilla recorded separately in Los Angeles and Detroit. Their one album, Champion Sound, was released in 2003.  When J Dilla moved to Los Angeles, he, Madlib and J Rocc began doing shows together as Jaylib, performing together for the first time at the Madvillain record release party in April 2004.

Madlib and Dilla collaborated primarily through the exchange of beat tapes, occasionally reworking each others material, or chopping the same beat in a kind of recorded call-and-response. via

~ The $ - J Dilla

J Dilla - “The $” (Madlib Remix)

HELLA INTERNATIONAL (3 x 12-INCH BOX SET)

Remaining supply of the 2008 limited edition release featuring exclusive J Dilla/Madlib remixes, and only vinyl releases of Supreme Team, Aloe Blacc, Percee P

In 2008 we created a triple 12-inch box set, all based around our Miami Winter Music party Hella International.  Parra did the sleeve.  Madlib’s remixes of two J Dilla tracks from Ruff Draft, “The $” and “Make ‘em NV” appear here exclusively.  Many of the other tracks – collabs between artists like Dam Funk & Baron Zen, Four Tet & Aloe Blacc, Percee P & Koushik, Madlib & Karriem Riggins (as Supreme Team) - also appear here first, and were later released the Chrome Children Vol. 2 CD. This remains the only vinyl release for most of these tracks. via

Strong Arm Steady - “Cheeba Cheeba” prod. by Madlib

Strong Arm Steady was formed in the shadows of the West Coast’s Death Row Records movement, which at one time, loomed large over much of the region’s talent. Many Los Angeles artists—themselves students and children of Death Row—were becoming frustrated at the gang mentality that colored perceptions of their burgeoning underground. Out of that frustration came resourcefulness and unity, and as unity grew into community, L.A.’s indie scene began to blossom, not in opposition to Death Row, but as an alternative. They are the new generation. They are Strong Arm Steady.
