Dirg Gerner – “Rubies & Diamonds” Ft. Fatima (fLako Remix)

Ho Tep, the harder-to-define offspring of Eglo Records, introduces a new artist by the name of Dirk Gerner with his debut, the ‘Preface EP’. Styles are more soulful, jazzy, for this one, following the boogie-riddled dancefloor output of Letherette, Mau’lin and Throwing Snow. Floating Points’ vocalist of choice, Fatima, lends a sophisticated vocal to the burnished downbeats of opener ‘Rubies & Diamonds’, while Olmino imbues the spacious rhythms and neon synth squirts of ‘Attempting Cry’ with a crooning Brazilian quality ripe for the Gilles Peterson types, while setting ‘Loose Lights’ with a classy Bossa vibe. On remix duties, fLako gives ‘Rubies & Diamonds’ a more insistent and uptempo electronic charge

Fatima x Foating Points - “Cinnamon”

Following their work together on last year’s Floating Points Ensemble record for Ninja Tune, Swedish soul songstress Fatima and UK producer/Eglo Records Floating Points will release a brand-new EP of collaborative songs. The Follow You EP includes four tracks from the talented pair, all of which are said to constitute a “journey through soul, gospel, blues, and house.”

Fatima – “Warm Eyes” Ft. Dam-Funk

Eglo records assemble a stellar set of deep-leaning gangster funk for Fatima’s debut solo single featuring beats from Dam-Funk, Funkineven and Veebeeo. The ‘Mindtravelin’ EP follows her appearance on Funkineven’s ‘Kleer’ with a choice set of future vintage modern soul. On the A-side Dam-Funk works Fatima’s harmonised tingles into an ace electro-funk jam for ‘Warm Eyes’ but our interest has been diverted by the two shockers from Funkineven on the flip. His fluid, kinetic and ultimately cooool-as-f*ck synthlines provide thrilling surfaces to reflect Fatima’s bold vocals, complementing her with dope swing on ‘Soul Glo’ and blasting her into an alternate disco dimension with the effects laden funk-gymnastics of ‘On The Go’.
